Oliver’s Story

Born at just 24 weeks, Oliver entered the world facing incredible odds. Months in the NICU, significant developmental challenges, and eye surgery to preserve his vision marked the beginning of a journey no family anticipates for their child. 

When Oliver first came to Joe’s Kids, he spoke only a few words, struggled to walk independently, and found new people, environments, and experiences overwhelming. Through a personalized combination of speech, physical, and occupational therapy, our team partnered with his family to help him build the skills, confidence, and independence every child deserves. 

Today, Oliver is a different child. He carries on conversations, walks confidently alongside his family, participates in activities, and embraces new experiences with excitement. His growth has been especially evident through occupational therapy at Magical Meadows, where equine-assisted movement has helped him improve focus, self-regulation, and engagement. A child who was once fearful now eagerly runs into therapy looking for his therapist and his favorite horses, proudly calling it the “horsey playground.” 

For Oliver, therapy has been about much more than developmental milestones. It has opened doors to connection, confidence, and possibility.
